A beginner’s guide to Motorcycle Parts

By Karen Nodalo

Once you hop in a motorcycle and realize that you have deep interest in riding it, I’m definitely sure you’ll have lots of questions in your mind. You’ll probably ask the basic questions on how to start and drive it with the use of gears. These are common questions of beginners who are willing to indulge on the road to driving motorcycles. Knowing the parts of your motorcycles and how they work together to keep your motorcycles running can be quite interesting too.

In order for you to learn riding and start riding, you must first learn the basics of the motorcycle parts and how they function. If you get to know the parts very well, you can now begin your curiosity in riding your first bike.
There are many different parts of the motorcycle. These parts are considered general because all motorcycles regardless of the brands contain the same parts. I’ll be giving you a short discussion on the important parts.
The clutch is a lever which is found in the left-hand grip of your motorcycle. You operate it with the use of your fingers. It is responsible for releasing mechanism and operates for shifting gears more easily. Motorcycles have cylinders but they differ in the number of cylinders. Motorcycles contain between the ranges of one to six cylinders. Most of the cylinders are liquid-cooled to prevent steaming of over-heating for extreme usage.
You have the brake which is very important because it slows down the speed of the motorcycles to prevent it from bumping. There are two kinds of brakes. The first is the front brake which is located at the right hand of the motorcycle. It is responsible for stopping the front wheels of your motorcycle. The second is the rear brake which operates to stop the back wheels of the motorcycles. It is operated with the use of our foot. Thought hey both work differently, they work together to prevent serious accidents.
The suspension works to keep you comfortable in riding. It provides you with a stable and smooth ride on rough edges and areas. The gas tank is where you place gas which is where your motorcycle is being fed with gasoline. The gear shift which is foot-operated is responsible for shifting gears.
The spark plug operates as an igniter to start the engines to cause the effect of combustion. The ignition switch is where you start the motorcycle with your keys. Once it is already witched on, the motorcycle is now ready to be operated. The handlebar is where you place your right and left arms for steering and pivoting. He throttle is found in the right grip of your hand. The throttle increases the speed of the motorcycle. It is being operated by twisting it with your hand.
The side mirrors are of great help to the motorcycle rider. It allows them to look behind even in a very fast lane without looking backwards. In order to view your behind very well, these side mirrors should be at the right angle and should always be clear. The hors serves as a warning especially on a busy street where people and vehicles are rushing through.
Now that you are introduced with the parts, you can now start your first motorcycle ride and enjoy safe riding!

Choosing the right Tires for your Motorcycles

By Karen Nodalo

All the parts of the motorcycle are essential and the tires are one of them. Basically, it is the most contributing factor that makes the motorcycles move. So if it is important, then tires should be given much attention too. There are different types of wheels for different types of motorcycles. It has different sizes and surfaces too. Some tires have spikes which are used for dirt bike races and other kinds of races. Some tires are smooth which are used in highways and concrete roads.
Tires have to be maintained and checked once in a while because its durability depends on how much you use it. New tires are treated differently because it’s just like you being given a different task of work to do. You don’t get used to it easily so you need to adjust. Tires are like those too. They have to keep up or warmed in order to function well. New tires have to be used all over again several times. It’s important to keep your tires a little wasted to prevent it from sliding.
Temperature affects the tire pressure and it is a contributing factor to the effects on your tires. What is meant by temperature is that when tires are not used long enough, they become a little bit cold. Time also affects the pressure of your tires. That particularly focuses on the duration of the tires. If you use your motorcycles often, don’t get shocked if you notice them getting thinner. Tire pressure should be observed and checked. If the day’s temperature is high and exceeds the normal, expect your tires to inflate. Though this may not be considered to be very dangerous, still it should be given measures.
You should get the best tire suited for your motorcycle’s performance and compatibility. In purchasing tires, it is best if you would have enough knowledge in the details. If not, talk to your trusted dealers and mechanics. Of course they will sell out good products for their standard and company’s name. you should not take for granted the quality of your tires because if you think of budgeting to a low cost, you never notice your tires get spoiled in just a short time which entitles you to buy a new one again at a cheaper price.
You can never go wrong in buying tires if you choose the ones with the correct brand and quality. It would be advisable if you pick commercial tires which are commonly being used by professionals and racers. Things you should consider in choosing tires are durability, level of performance, its ability to grip on wet surfaces and quality. The best way to maintain your tires is still by cleaning it up and avoiding it from scary areas.

Mazda’s Miata Starts Off Empire

By Elijah Gardena

Car enthusiasts are always on the lookout for an affordable sports car. Over the years, many companies have tried to fill that niche, with varying success. Indeed, it takes a brave and intelligent manufacturer to come up with an attractive, pleasurable and cost-conscious sports vehicle. Luckily, Mazda was able to do just that.

Plans for a unique open two-seater began around 1981. With a team based in both California and Japan, a design focused on a compact, streamlined, easy-to-handle, and overall unassuming sports car began to take shape. Around 1989, to the delight of millions worldwide, the Mazda Miata was born.

The very first Miata was extremely small in size and the complete effect was certainly remarkable. Take the wheelbase, which was just 89.2 inches and stretched to a total of 155.2 inches. The highly engineered steering combined with the smaller disk brakes worked like a charm. The interior amenities were minimal, but sufficient. The idea was to keep the design simple and clean-looking. The very early models did come enhanced with air conditioning and a good sound system. All in all, it was a durable sports car equipped with the necessities.

The car’s light weight was a huge advantage when considering the engine options. Just over 2,000 pounds, the Mazda Miata did not need a big engine to produce the speed and excitement of a large sports car. At first, the Miata included a 1.6 liter, 116 horsepower engine and it revved from 0 to 60 mph in less than nine seconds. Obviously, by today’s standards this doesn’t seem all that incredible, but at the time it was a notable achievement that guaranteed a good time.

Indeed, the popularity of the Mazda Miata extends across the globe. This is evidenced by an increasing number of Mazda Miata clubs in places like Sweden, England, and New Zealand. Come see what all the fuss is about for yourself.

Preventing Unwanted Carbon Babies in Your Engine

By Dee Scrip

The UBiee Power Pill Fe-3 is the impeccable engine contraceptive that eradicates and prevents future unwanted carbon deposit babies. It is the penultimate, environmentally friendly, engine womb broom.

Have you ever wondered, “Where do carbon babies come from?”

Well, in the case of an engine, it all starts with the courtship between water and sulfur.

1. Meet – A casual acquaintance is acknowledged in the formation of fuel, as water and sulfur are necessary presences in both gasoline and diesel fuel.
2. Flirtation – Sulfur has an affinity to attract even more water from the atmosphere.
3. Courtship -- Begins when water and sulfur dance together as they are transported long distances to the gas station, and flow through the tunnel of love from the gas pump to your engine.
4. Marriage – Ceremony takes place in your engine.
5. Conception – Sulfuric acid is conceived with the union of water and sulfur as your engine blissfully transports you.
6. Babies – Commonly named “Carbon Deposits” occur when sulfuric acid is not burned off during combustion.

What happens within an engine’s house full of babies?

The babies grow up, become engine couch potatoes, leaving their carbon deposits strewn throughout your engine, e.g., spark plugs, valves, oil, etc. They never clean up after themselves nor do anything remotely productive.

Then your engine starts begging you for more fuel because it can’t keep up with the feeding demands created by the rapidly developing couch potatoes. Even though your engine is working harder, it is no longer giving you the vim and vigor it used to have.

Your engine starts to show signs of fatigue and exhaustion; it becomes depressed because it just can’t keep up at the same level of enthusiasm it did before the kids. Its performance drops -- its average miles per gallon drops -- its emissions increase, and at more toxic levels than ever before.

It is time to call the Fuel Doctor. The Fuel Doctor arrives on the scene with a simple prescription called the UBiee Power Pill Fe-3.

Immediately your engine starts exhibiting vitality by:

· Improving its performance
· Increasing its miles per gallon
· Eliminating those fattened couch potato carbon deposits, never letting them take up residence again
· Decreasing its octane requirements
· Reducing its harmful carbon monoxide exhaust emissions by up to 78%
· Reducing its smoke pollutants by up to 73%
· Reducing its hydrocarbon emissions by up to 23%

The Fuel Doctor has another peppy patient on the road to recovery.
Your engine is elated and shows appreciation every time you feed it the UBiee Power Pill Fe-3. And most of all, you are ecstatic because all translates into substantial savings for you and an engine that has postponed early retirement.

Support Group for Performance-Challenged Engines

By Dee Scrip

The heart of the circulatory system in vehicles is the engine. Your engine could be performance-challenged if it exhibits one or more of these symptoms:

· Chronic Fatigue
· Listlessness or Sluggishness
· Difficulty Maintaining Former Miles Per Gallon
· Hemophiliac Emissions
· Irritability
· Octane Deprivation

As the primary caregiver of your engine, you’ve accepted the responsibility for maintenance, e.g., purchasing fuel, changing spark plugs, lubricating valves, changing oil, etc., but in spite of meticulous nurturing, your engine continues to be unreceptive.

According to the Fuel Doctor, the problematic symptoms are indicative of a common eating disorder known only to vehicles, e.g., automobiles, trucks, boats, RVs, motorcycles, etc. The eating disorder is a direct result of gasoline or diesel fuel feedings. This vehicle food produces sulfuric acid reflux in the engine.

Sulfuric acid (created from the union of fuel and water – which is present in all fuel), never completely burns off during engine combustion, and the end result is grotesque carbon deposits clinging to spark plugs, valves, etc., choking away its life. When these toxic carbon deposits fester in the engine, its performance noticeably diminishes, even after nourishing with higher octane fuel.

As your engine becomes more irritable, it develops an easily identifiable repugnant smell, while it increasingly spews into the environment hemophiliac emissions known as toxic exhaust fumes.

Before your engine needs a fuel tracheotomy or becomes suicidal, promptly seek emotional support.

The Fuel Doctor is a compassionate friend, always available for consultation.

Ask the Fuel Doctor to prescribe a nutritious pill to pop in your tank before each feeding – a pill that will immediately place your beloved engine on the road to recovery and prevent future performance-challenged behavior.

Experience your engine’s vitality spring back to life. Watch how your engine performs better with increased miles per gallon, even on less octane requirements. Encounter the thrill of a healthier aroma with drastically reduced emissions.

Why not give your engine the emotional reinforcement it needs? Join the support group for performance-challenged engines right now and share your own success story.

Non-Surgical Liposuction for Engines

By Dee Scrip

Classic symptoms of engine liposuction candidates:

· Sluggish response
· Diminished engine performance
· Decreased mileage per gallon
· Increased fuel requirements
· Increased toxic emissions

Perhaps you have faithfully and religiously tried to keep your engine healthy by:

· Habitual feedings on quality gasoline or diesel fuel
· Changing oil regularly
· Meticulously replacing spark plugs

Yet your engine still manifests foreboding symptoms.

Don’t blame yourself! The Fuel Doctor has ferreted out the source and formulated a non-surgical cure!

The source is water and sulfur. I know you would never intentionally feed your engine water, but unfortunately water is always present in both gasoline and diesel fuel. The nature of fuel also has an affinity to solicit water from the atmosphere. Sulfur also intentionally lurks in both gasoline and diesel fuel. When water and sulfur meet, sulfuric acid is conceived. Acidic engines form carbon deposits when not burned off during combustion.

A critical condition evolves when unsightly carbon deposits appear on spark plugs, valves, etc., or are forced into your oil. These lethal carbon deposits progressively obstruct your engine’s ability to properly function. Inevitably, symptoms rear their ugly head, and your engine becomes listed as a prime candidate for liposuction.

When your engine does not function efficiently, toxic exhaust emissions are spewed into the environment. Failed emission test inspections elicit an emergency room visit for immediate engine liposuction.

But don’t despair! Drastic measures are no longer compulsory to eliminate those unsightly carbon deposits in your engine. The Fuel Doctor has formulated a prescription cure called the UBiee Power Pill Fe-3.

Tests performed on this non-surgical liposuction procedure showed:

· Improved engine performance
· Increased mileage
· Reduction in carbon deposits
· Decreased octane requirements
· Reduction of harmful carbon monoxide exhaust emissions by 78%
· Reduction of smoke pollutants by 73%
· Reduction of hydrocarbon emissions by 23%

Product Renaissance: 2006 Lincoln Zephyr Teams Up with the Most Durable Lincoln Accessories, Replacement and Performance Parts

By Jenny McLane

Lincoln introduced at the North American International Auto Show an entirely new generation of consumers to the qualities that have made Lincoln a classic American luxury marque for more than 70 years.

The Duratec 30 V-6 is the heart of Lincoln Zephyr's power train. Using intake Variable Cam Timing (i-VCT) to improve torque and reduce emissions, the engine generates 210 horsepower and 200 foot-pounds of torque. More importantly, it is the cleanest Duratec 30 ever, and will be rated for ULEV II tailpipe emissions in California, with a U.S. federal government rating of Tier II, Bin 5 tailpipe and LEV II evaporative emissions in states outside California.

The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transaxle – gradually emerging as the new industry standard for luxury cars. The innovative, wide-ratio transmission plays a key role in Lincoln Zephyr's performance and smooth operation.

The overall span of the ratios is approximately 6:1 versus 4.5:1 for a typical five-speed, which allows this smaller, more fuel-efficient engine to deliver efficient gas mileage along with a strong performance feel. Another feature is that the modern six-speed automatic is lighter than some competitor's four- and five-speed transaxles, boosting performance and economy further.
The Lincoln zephyr also uses an electronic throttle control that works with the electronically controlled transaxle to ensure seamless shifts.

Lincoln Zephyr's two row side air curtains also feature "roll-fold" technology – a Ford Motor Company exclusive in the mid-size segment. If an occupant is improperly seated and resting his or her head against a window, the air bag is designed to slide between the glass and occupant as it inflates. Typical side air curtains unfold like an accordion, using the occupant's head to keep the bag between the glass and the body. Lincoln's roll-fold keeps the air curtain against the glass, even when the occupant is out of position.

Ford Freestyle 2005 enhanced by Top-notch Ford Parts from Parts Train

By Jenny McLane

"Freestyle blends the looks of an SUV, the versatility of a minivan and the confidence of an all-wheel-drive sedan," says Ford. "Freestyle is the crossover done right," adds Group Vice President, Product Creation, Phil Martens. "We didn't try to adapt an existing minivan or sport-utility platform. Freestyle is built from the ground up as a crossover with class-leading spaciousness, seven-passenger comfort, and versatility and all-wheel-drive capability."

The Freestyle is a midsize “crossover.” Replacing the front-wheel-drive Taurus wagon, the six- or seven-passenger Freestyle promises more SUV-like qualities. A 203-horsepower 3.0-liter Duratec 30 V6 engine with a continuously variable transmission to optimize performance, improves fuel economy, and reduce emissions powers it.

The Freestyle's "P2" platform has an elevated ride-height, optional Haldex all-wheel drive system, independent suspension front and rear, and safety cell technology for superior occupant protection in crashes distinctive to this chassis.

Under the hood is Ford's 3.0-litre Duratec V-6 making 203 horsepower and 207 lb.-ft. of torque.

Standard features in the base, SE, model include 17" wheels, three rows of seating, six-way power driver's seat, anti-lock brakes with traction control, keypad on driver's door, air conditioning, roof rack side rails. It also features an overhead console and privacy glass in the third row and liftgate, chrome grille surround, automatic headlamps, six-disc CD changer with MP3 capability, fog lamps, remote steering wheel controls, auto-dimming mirrors and special bright alloy 17" wheels.

The available AWD uses an electronically controlled, electro-hydraulic Haldex limited-slip coupling ahead of the rear differential to transfer virtually all available torque to the rear wheels whenever the front wheels slip. Ford's Personal Safety System improves impact protection. Using information from weight and impact sensors in the front passenger seat, it can choose from one of two deployment speeds or suppress the bag altogether.

Freestyle also has innovative adaptive steering column, which is designed to collapse horizontally at two different speeds depending on whether the driver is belted. In addition, the driver side airbag deployment is tailored the driver's seat position on its track. An optional package includes side airbags and Ford's Safety Canopy to provide side-impact and rollover protection for all three rows of passengers.

Ford Freestyle has the comfort and ride quality of a sedan, the people- and cargo-carrying capacity of a minivan, the rugged look of an SUV, and all-wheel-drive. To continue Ford's tradition of offering environment friendly, outstanding value and class leading amenities, auto parts companies like Partstrain offers top of the line Ford Parts. The customer has a choice from a vast array of Performance Parts, Replacement Parts, Aftermarket Parts and accessories. It offers new and used Ford auto body and engine parts, headlights, transmission parts, taillights, radiators, wheels, rims, and more.

Parts train is easy and hassle-free. You can browse our accessible user-friendly online parts list at http://www.partstrain.com/ShopByVehicle/FORD either by make or part type. Repairing Your Own Machine Components

By Thomas Yoon

Many industrial concerns have workshops of their own. For the repair of worn shafts, the lathe machine is excellent. Keyway slots can be machined by using a milling machine, while a shaping machine can do machining of large flat areas. A drilling machine does drilling of holes.

A skilled Maintenance Engineer should know how to use all these machines in order to make his own repairs in a safe manner. Very often he has to supervise machinists. The information below should be useful for that purpose.

Lathe Machine

The lathe machine uses a single-point-cutting tool for a variety of turning, facing, and drilling jobs. Excess metal is removed by rotating the work piece over the fixed cutting tool to form straight or tapered cylindrical shapes, grooves, shoulders and screw threads. It can also be used for facing flat surfaces on the ends of cylindrical parts.

The work piece is clamped onto a horizontal rotating shaft by a 3-jaw or 4-jaw chuck. The latter chuck can be used to cut off-centered cylinders. The rotating horizontal spindle to which the chuck is attached is usually driven at speeds that can be varied.

The cutting tool is fixed onto a tool rest and manipulated by hand. It can also be power driven on straight paths parallel or perpendicular to the work axis. This is useful for screw cutting.

Internal turning known as boring results in the enlargement of an already existing hole. The holes are more accurate in roundness, concentricity, and parallelism than drilled holes. A hole is bored with a single-point-cutting tool that feeds along the inside of the work piece.

Shaping Machine

The shaping machine is used to machine flat surfaces, grooves, shoulders, T-slots, and angular surfaces with single-point tools. The cutting tool on the shaper oscillates, cutting on the forward stroke, with the work piece feeding automatically toward the tool during each return stroke.

Drilling Machine

The drilling machine is used to cut holes in metal with a twist drill. By changing the cutting tool, they can be used to do reaming, boring, counter boring, countersinking, and threading.

Milling Machine

The milling machine uses a rotating cutting tool to cut flat surfaces, grooves, and shoulders, inclined surfaces, dovetails, and T-slots. Cutters of many shapes are changed to cut different grooves.

Cutting Tools

Metal-cutting tools are classified as single point or multiple point. The lathe and shaping machine use single point cutting tool while the milling and drilling machines use multiple-point-cutting tools.

Metal is cut either by moving the work piece like in the lathe or by moving the tool like in the shaping machine, drilling or milling machine. Clearance angles must be provided to prevent the tool surface below the cutting edge from rubbing against the work piece. Rake angles are often provided on cutting tools to cause a wedging action in the formation of chips and to reduce friction and heat.

Tool Materials

In order to remove chips from a work piece, a cutting tool must be harder than the work piece and must maintain a cutting edge at the temperature produced by the friction of the cutting action.

Carbon Steel

Carbon steel tools even though comparatively inexpensive tend to lose cutting ability at temperatures around 400 degree F (205 degree C).

High-Speed Steel

High-speed steel, containing 18 percent tungsten, 4 percent chromium, 1 percent vanadium, and only 0.5 to 0.8 percent carbon, permits the operation of tools twice or three times the speeds allowable with carbon steel

Cast Alloys

Cast-alloy cutting-tool materials containing cobalt, chromium, and tungsten are effective in cutting cast iron and retaining their cutting ability even when red hot.

Cemented Tungsten Carbide

The hardness of Tungsten Carbide approaches that of a diamond. Tungsten carbide tools can be operated at cutting speeds many times higher than those used with high-speed steel.

Oxides

Ceramic, or oxide, tool tips consist primarily of fine aluminum oxide grains, which are bonded together. These are very hard.

Cutting fluids

An overheated tool can become blunt and soft very fast. Therefore very often, cooling fluids cools the cutting points of the tool. This serves to lubricate and cool.

Water is an excellent cooling medium, but it corrodes ferrous materials. Sulfurized mineral oil is one of the most popular coolants as it can both cool as well as lubricate. The sulfur prevents chips from the work from melting on to the tip of the tool.

Engine Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

By Dee Scrip

We all get tired and have felt depressed at times, but have you ever considered that your engine may experience the same manifestations?

The early signs of Engine Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ECFS) is a strong, noticeable lethargy that simply overpowers your engine. The profound weakness does not disappear with additional fuel feedings, oil changes, spark plug replacements, etc.

ECFS Symptoms:

· Strong and noticeable fatigue even after resting
· Increased fuel appetite
· Inability to perform with no apparent reason
· Dissipation of energy and vigor
· Painful increased toxic exhaust emissions
· Vociferous discord in engine
· Increased frequency in oil changes
· Persistent soiled spark plugs

One or more of these symptoms warrants further investigation.

How does ECFS begin?

From the first time you use either gasoline or diesel to fill the tank.

Who can get ECFS?

ECFS transcends all ages, social and economic classes, as well as geographical locations. Some members of the transportation community, and public consumers as a whole, are inexperienced with ECFS, or are skeptical of the syndrome.

What are the statistics for ECFS?

Inevitably, all engines powered by diesel or gasoline fuel are affected.

What causes ECFS?

Sulfuric acid in the engine produced by a combination of water in fuel and innate attraction of fuel to water. Although most diagnosticians thought it to be an age disorder resulting in weakness and fatigue, scientific evidence has now cast doubt on that theory.

How can consumers cope with and manage ECFS?

The Fuel Doctor suggests that “what we have here is a failure to communicate” between owner and engine. Manifestations are simply an engine’s mode of conveying the need for owner intervention.

Learning how to manage ECFS, may help improve the level at which your engine functions, as well as its quality of life. But managing ECFS requires treatment choices: short term versus long term, economical versus non-economical.

Long Short-Term Treatments -- Manage individual symptoms as they surface. For example, soiled spark plugs can be changed, or tainted oil can be removed and replaced. Not economically viable.

Short Long-Term Treatment – Manage the collective symptoms and simultaneously induce a cure – clearly the optimal economically viable solution.

The Fuel Doctor’s Treatment Prescription:

Based on scientific evidence, the Fuel Doctor strongly recommends the UBiee Power Pill Fe3 for treating all ECFS expressions. The UBiee Power Pill Fe-3 is not only a nutritious supplement to fuel feedings, but it has shown to radically induce improvement and liberate cure for all guises of ECFS. It is the most economically viable solution available on the market.

Conclusion:

Engine Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is a condition of known causes and is an inherent disorder affecting all engines. Results of treatment with UBiee Power Pill Fe3 have proven to work an effective and economical cure.

UBiee PowerPill Fe3 – Prevents Unwanted Carbon Babies in Your Engine

The Fuel Doctor arrives on the scene with a simple prescription called the UBiee Power Pill Fe3.

2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer SS Plus the Chevrolet Performance and Aftermarket Parts

By Jenny McLane

As the first truck developed by GM’s Performance Division, Trailblazer SS’ has a towing capacity up to 6,700 pounds with the two-wheel drive model and up to 6,500 pounds with the available all-wheel drive model. Cargo volume is 41 cubic feet (1161 liters) behind the rear seat and 80 cubic feet (2265 liters) with the rear seat folded.

GM's High Performance Vehicle Operations tuned the suspension and upgraded the brakes of the SS. It features stiffer springs, an inch lower ride height, and thicker anti-roll bars, as well as standard StabiliTrak stability control. Larger, 12.8-inch diameter front brake discs are fitted, allied to new iron twin-piston calipers, while the monster twenty-inch aluminum wheels have 255/50 V-rated tires.
The TrailBlazer SS has unique exterior styling and specific interior appointments, including prominent 20-inch flangeless wheels. Power is delivered by the Corvette-derived LS2 6.0L V-8, enabling a 0-60 mph time of 5.7 seconds. A performance suspension with lowered ride height also is part of the package and was tuned by GM’s Performance Division at several racetracks, including Germany’s legendary Nurburgring – a challenging road course that features more than 12.5 miles of turns and drastic elevation changes. The TrailBlazer SS is available in two-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations.
The four-wheel disc braking system of the TrailBlazer SS is enhanced with larger, 12.8-inch front disc brake rotors and new, iron twin-piston calipers. The heavy-duty iron calipers are stiff and retain their shape under high pressure/high heat braking conditions, providing a linear feel and reduced pedal travel in high-energy stops. The brake pads use the same high-performance linings as the Corvette for strong fade resistance. ABS is standard. There also is an accessory front brake-cooling package available for optimized track performance.
Chevrolet's engineers did extensive chassis tuning to the Trailblazer SS where they lowered the suspension 1-inch and add 25% stiffer springs. The ride height has been lowered about an inch using 25 percent stiffer for a firmer ride and reducing body roll, and to give the TrailBlazer SS a lower, more aggressive demeanor.

The SS model remains distinct with black-diamond grille, decklid spoiler, and generally looking more like the NASCAR cars Gordon campaigns. It has 20-inch polished aluminum wheels and four-wheel disks (12.8-inch rotors at the front). StabiliTrak and a rear air-leveling suspension are also standard for the SS.

The TrailBlazer SS’s engine has a composite intake manifold used in other mid-size trucks and was adapted to the LS2 to help produce balanced torque and horsepower within packaging parameters. The engine also has the Trailblazer's trademark pass-through oil pan. The pan’s cast-in passage allows the front differential’s half-shaft to run through the pan instead of under it. This helps keep the engine mounted lower in the chassis for better balance and a lower center of gravity. There also is a stylish SS-specific engine cover, radiator support cover and coordinated air induction box.
Backing the 6.0L V-8 is a new Hydra-Matic 4L70-E electronically controlled four-speed automatic transmission. It debuts in the TrailBlazer SS and was developed to handle the high horsepower and high torque loads of performance-oriented light-duty vehicles. Special high-strength and heat-treated materials are used throughout the 4L70-E to ensure it delivers smooth, dependable shifting.
Partstrain manufactures and sells aftermarket performance products and accessories for GM vehicles. Partstrain strives to be the ultimate source for performance products and accessories for most GM vehicles.

Parts train's product line-up for the Chevrolet Trailblazer SS includes Engine system, Electrical system, Header, Exhaust, Hoods, Hubcaps, multiple Body Kit designs, Suspension, Condensers, Bumpers, Radiator Support, Spoiler, Catalytic Converter, and a variety of additional upgrades that compliment the car.

GM’S 2006 Cadillac XLR: Cadillac Performance Parts, Aftermarket Parts

By Jenny McLane

The 2006 Cadillac XLR-V is the newest addition to the high-performance V-Series vehicles for the ultra-luxury class of high-performance roadsters.

The 2006 Cadillac XLR is equipped with a supercharged 4.4-liter Northstar V-8 engine, good for 440 horsepower and 425 pound-feet of torque--120 horsepower. The 32-valve V-8 is backed by a Hydra-Matic 6L80 six-speed automatic transmission.

The car has recalibrated Magnetic Ride Control, 13.4-inch dual-piston front brakes and 13.0-inch single-piston brakes in the rear, a larger front stabilizer bar, and the addition of a rear stabilizer bar. Styling cues include a wire-mesh grille, 19-inch wheels, and wood and aluminum accents in the interior.

This Cadillac is the first to be equipped with Adaptive Forward Lighting, which uses sensors that read steering wheel angle input and vehicle speed to determine how quickly and how much to turn the headlights. The Cadillac XLR has polished wire mesh upper and lower grilles; unique nineteen-inch, ten-spoke aluminum wheels; a hood bulge; and four stainless-steel exhaust tips.

The XLR chassis is sharper than the SL500's, however, and Cadillac has enhanced it with a stiffer front anti-roll bar, the addition of a rear bar, and a sportier Magnetic Ride Control calibration. The brakes have been uprated, with bigger diameter 13.4-inch front and 13.0-inch rear cross-drilled rotors, a setup that is essentially the same as the Corvette Z51's. The StabiliTrak stability system now has four positions. The larger diameter wheels are accompanied by wider Pirelli run-flat 235/45 front and 255/40 rear tires.

A full complement of performance enhancements such as new 19-inch wheels and tires, a recalibrated suspension and stronger brakes gives the Cadillac a serious performance entry in the luxury convertible segment.

The Cadillac XLR boasts of the following: 440-horsepower Supercharged Northstar V-8 Engine, Rear-Mounted Hydra-Matic Six-Speed Automatic Transmission, Handcrafted Leather-wrapped Interior, and Adaptive Forward Lighting System -Series Design Cues.

Exterior and interior appointments include a signature wire-mesh grille, larger 19-inch wheels at all four corners, and ebony wood and aluminum accents throughout the interior; larger brakes, stabilizer bars, wheels and tires. It also includes a performance-calibrated Magnetic Ride Control (MR) system; Adaptive Forward Lighting system, a first-time application on a Cadillac, which automatically adjusts headlamp direction up to 15-degrees for improved night driving vision.

Jeep Performance Enhancers at Parts Train for the Jeep Gladiator Concept Car 2005

By Jenny McLane

Why concept cars? For obvious reasons - to get a visible, tangible look at a design before production so its feel can be evaluated, possible problems can be foreseen, and, for concept cars shown to the public, so reactions of non-gear heads can be judged.
In testing particular ideas, concepts are best - for example, they could be a test bed for exterior and interior colors and materials, new controls and dashboard layouts, variations on packaging, etc.

Driving concept cars is a wonderful experience knowing you have driven a future car first hand. Designs that you can only see in futuristic movies become suddenly real and many are exaggerated versions of what will actually appear. The Jeep® Gladiator Concept Car features the historic box side-mounted spare of past models as well as an open-air canvas top, an expandable truck bed and a stowaway rear seat cushion, has a rugged functionality only found in Jeep. The engine is a 2.8-liter diesel ideal for off-roading yet environmentally friendly, since gas mileage of diesels is better and do not pollute like those of years past.

It can presumably also be run on biodiesel, which both reduces the amount of energy spent on processing and avoids toxic spills. The engine has an abundant 295 foot-pounds of torque and 163 horsepower. The short rear overhang allows a good departure angle for off-roading. There is a solid front axle, and in the rear, a trailing arm system with coil-within-a-coil. There are a front winch, front and rear locking differentials, and skid plates. On the driver's side, there is a cabin storage access panel, and a lockable storage box in front of the rear wheel where the jack is stowed.

The Gladiator looks like the shape of Wranglers to come, and rumor has it that's exactly what it is: a first try at getting the dimensions and shape of the next-generation Wrangler, due around 2006 (partly to meet new safety standards). We've been told that the Gladiator retains the classic Jeep live axles, with a similar 4x4 system and length, but with more width for better stability and comfort (the Gladiator is ten inches wider, but we suspect the actual increase will be half that). The suspension will be updated for additional capacity and safety, and we suspect some electronics will be thrown into the mix. If the Gladiator is any indication, ground clearance will also be considerably better - which will be helpful given the new competition from Hummers, Porsches, and the like.

The most notable feature for the enthusiast is a new take on the midgate concept. The cab's rear window rolls down into its divider, but, according to credible rumor, the seats then fold and tumble under the pickup bed, so that the bed itself is effectively six feet, eight inches long, extending into the cab. This is rather different from the Avalanche/Sport Trak setup. It was heard that there will be four doors, but the two rear doors will be partial-width - a suicide door on the passenger side for easier entry into the back seats, and, cleverly, a smaller door on the driver's side.
For all of your Jeep parts needs browse through http://www.partstrain.com/ShopByVehicle/JEEP and avail of top of the line Jeep parts that are excellent deals. Match the quality and performance of your Jeep, shop at Parts Train online stores and be assured of high quality yet affordable Jeep Parts.

2005 Ford Five Hundred Complemented with Top Notch Parts for Parts Train

By Jenny McLane

The Five Hundred will become Ford's flagship sedan. It has higher seating, increased interior space, and optional all-wheel drive. The Five Hundred has considerably more interior space than the full-size Crown Victoria, even though it's only 25 centimeters shorter

"While the industry tries to make car-based crossovers, the Ford Five Hundred stands alone as the first crossover-based car" said Ford vice president Phil Martens.

It's a 4-door sedan with SUV and crossover advantages, including cargo capability, versatility, "command" seating and available all-wheel drive.

The Five Hundred's 3.0-litre Duratec V6 engine makes 200 horsepower while two transmissions will be offered: a six-speed automatic and a CVT (continuously variable transmission).

The front seat H (hip) point is four inches higher than that in a typical midsize sedan, and the rear seats are higher still. Legroom is best-in-class front and rear, while the trunk is biggest in class. An appealing truck/SUV attribute of the Ford 500 is high seating that helps drivers see over-or at least eye-to-eye with-other vehicles for a feeling of security.

Standard features include 17-inch wheels (upgraded to 18-in. on SEL and Limited), entry keypad and one-touch "up" front power windows. Options include AWD, leather seating with power adjustments (including power recliner for the driver), fold-flat front passenger seat, reverse parking assist and a moon roof, but not yet a navigation system.

The Five Hundred is a front-wheel-drive car with available all-wheel drive. It uses an electronically controlled, electro-hydraulic Haldex limited-slip viscous coupling just ahead of the rear differential to transfer torque to the rear wheels whenever the fronts begin to slip. Electronic controls gather information from the anti-lock brakes and other sensors to enable it to react within 50 milliseconds, much faster than competitive viscous devices.

Ford 500 Safety feature boasts structural advances such as "Space Architecture" cross-car beams, which won four top five-star safety ratings from the National Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), including for front and side impacts. It was the only 2005 model tested to win top marks for those two crash tests without the optional side air bags.

Only a few car parts manufacturers can match the quality that Parts Train has for Ford parts and the company boasts of an impressive array of Ford replacement and Ford car parts. Only the finest in the industry at extremely low prices that beats the automotive industry standard is the company's commitment to its customers. Mini Moto Mayhem

By Matt Tong

Mini Motos have been around in the UK for around ten years now. The first bikes we’re cobbled together with parts that were already available. Small 2 stroke engines, mainly from garden machinery, were used. This type of engine is still used today for a few models and is referred to as an ‘industrial’ engine. But now the mini moto has been given an overhaul and has taken off in popularity.

Mini Motos are true miniatures of their larger Super bike cousins. All of the details that go into the high performance motorcycles of today are scaled down. The slick tires, the race replica bodywork and the “super bike” colours are all present. Although usually only 15 to 18 inches in height and weighing 35 to 55 pounds, it can be difficult to tell they’re not full size when looking at them from a distance. The exactness of detail adds to their 'coolness' and is most certainly what has raised them to such heights of popularity.

Although beautiful, Mini Motos go well beyond being mere exquisite scale models. Advanced engineering has catapulted them to high-performance levels at only slightly outrageous prices. European companies like Blata and Polini sell units for £1200-£2000 but less expensive and arguably less reliable ones are made by Chinese manufacturers and cost £180-£400. Most models have two-stroke, 47cc engines, which run on a combination of petrol and two stroke oil. Despite the awkward-looking position it takes to mount one, they are a sheer joy to ride. The short wheelbase and overall low weight give them a lightning-fast turn and the thrill of riding so fast and so close to the terra firma is indeed intoxicating. Safety measures are a must when riding Mini Motos. Gloves, elbow pads, knee pads, a leather suit and a helmet should all be worn for each and every ride. Without them, road rash is quite likely and worse injuries are possible.

Despite the size of these little wonders adults are getting them for their kids but more commonly, for themselves. Normal models can regularly go 35mph, all though parents can set them to max out at much slower speeds or … modify them to go faster. Moreover, models with more powerful engines are available. A GRC RX with 15hp 50cc engine by GRC Moto can be purchased for a mere £1999. The Mini Moto explosion shows no signs of ending anytime soon and MM racing leagues have been in practice in the UK for around seven years now.

The Mini Moto Racing Association offers the following categories for you to test your Mini Moto.

Junior Lights (4.2 hp) Age 6 - 15 up to 35.9 Kg
Junior Cadets (4.2 hp) Age 6 - 15 over 36 Kg
Junior Production Age 9 - 15 no weight limits
Lightweight Production Age 16 + up to 74.9 Kg
Senior Production Age 16 + over 75 Kg
4.2 Senior Age 16 + no weight limits
Supers Age 16 + no weight limits

Race meeting are held around to the country at Go Kart and Mini Moto Tracks. There are also many ‘Arrive and Drive’ practice sessions hosted by tracks around the UK.

Choosing a Car Stereo

By Amy Barson

can be a complicated and difficult task, especially for individuals with little knowledge on the subject. This process requires extensive research in order to determine you are receiving the best deal possible. Before going to a car stereo dealer, you may want to review and understand all the components of a car stereo. This way, you can personally choose which components you would like for your car. The following is a list of the basic components of a car stereo:

1. Decks - Car stereos cannot function without a deck. A deck constitutes any piece of equipment ranging from cassette decks and CD players to MP3s and mini discs. The deck is considered the glue that holds the car stereo together. The deck controls the overall output of the sound and allows you to control the music being played. All car stereo decks have a minimum 4-channel output for your speakers. If you want more power than what your speakers alone can hold, you may want to consider purchasing an amplifier.

2. Amplifiers – Amplifiers provide the power needed to blast the music in your car. The more powerful your amplifier is, the louder the sound system is going to be. An amplifier can have anywhere from 1 to 7 channels. The number of channels in your amplifier is the number of speakers you can hookup in a series circuit.

3. Speakers – Speakers are where the sound from the stereo is emitted. Different types of speakers are designed to produce different frequencies. Higher frequencies provide the capacity for more sound and produce a higher level sound as well. The efficiency of the speakers is what will determine how far the sound will travel. If you want the sound to travel far, you will need speakers with a higher frequency.

4. Subwoofers – Every high-tech car stereo system should have a subwoofer. Subwoofers complete the sound by providing high efficiency of low frequencies, through the bass. In other words, the subwoofer is the piece of equipment which makes the car vibrate. A subwoofer needs to be enclosed in either a box or possibly the trunk of your vehicle. Keep this is mind when budgeting the cost of your stereo system.

Now that you know the basics of how everything operates, you can ask informed questions as to which components you should have in your car.
